2.4. Enable Search for the Custom Field

1.1. Go to your WordPress Admin Dashboard and find the menu on the left.
1.2. Go to “Custom Search” > “Settings” on your dashboard.
1.3. The “Custom Search Settings” page will open.
2. Custom Search Settings
Use the options of the “Custom Search Settings” page to customize the search results.
2.1. Current Post Type Search
Enable the “Current Post Type Search” option to search the current page post type only.
2.2. Display Order
Use the “Display Order” option to set the order of the search result and enable post types in search results.
2.2.1. Enable the “All Post Types” to do the search for all post types.
2.2.2. Enable the “All Taxonomies” to do the search for all taxonomy types.
2.2.3. Enable the “Posts” for the search just for posts.
2.2.4. Enable the “Pages” to do the search for pages.
2.2.5. Enable the “Categories (For “Posts”)” to search for posts categories.
2.2.6. Enable the “Tags (For “Posts”)” to search tags.
2.2.7. To change the order of search results drag and drop “Post”, “Pages”, “Categories”, “Tags” options in the necessary sequence.
2.2.8. The search result may look as follows. First posts are displayed - then the pages that may contain the search results.
2.3. Hidden Fields
Enable the “Hidden Fields” option to show the hidden fields. Click the “Save Changes” button after enabling this option to display hidden fields in the “Enable Search for the Custom Field” option.
2.4. Enable Search for the Custom Field
Use the “Enable Search for the Custom Field” option to enable the search for custom fields.
3. Data Settings
Use options of the “Data Settings” tab to add required post types (or single pages), taxonomies, and custom fields to the search.
3.1. Show URL
Enable the “Show URL” option in the “Data Settings” tab to show the URL of each post and page in the list below.
3.2. Custom Search List
Enable the necessary post types (or single pages) that will be added to the search.
4. Search Results Settings
Use the options of the “Search Results Settings” tab to set the custom display of search results.
4.1. Search Results Display
Use the “Search Results Display” option to choose the results display.
4.1.1. Choose “Default” to set the default display.
4.1.2. The default search result display may look as follows.
4.1.3. Choose the “Tabs” option to display search results in tabs.
4.1.4. The tabs-style search result display may look as follows.
4.2. Featured Image
Enable the “Feature Image” option to display a featured image in search results.
4.2.1. Featured Image Size
Use the “Featured Image Size” option to set the size of the image. To change the size of the image - select the appropriate value in the “Featured Image Size” dropdown menu.
4.2.1.1. Thumbnail (150x150) image size may look as follows.
4.2.1.2. Medium (300x300) image size may look as follows.
4.2.1.3. Large (1024x1024) image size may look as follows.
4.2.2. Featured Image Align
Use the “Featured Image Align” option to choose the alignment of the image.
4.2.2.1. Choose the “Left” to set the alignment relative to a left part of a block.
4.2.2.2. The left-align featured image may look as follows.
4.2.2.3. Choose the “Right” to set the alignment relative to the right part of a block.
4.2.2.4. The right-align image may look as follows.
4.3. Excerpt Length
Enter the appropriate value of the search result display length in an option box.
5. Miscellaneous Settings
Use the options of the “Miscellaneous Settings” tab to make the settings regarding anonymous usage and settings restoration.
5.1. Track Usage
Enable the “Track Usage” option to allow tracking plugin usage anonymously. Click the “Save changes” button.
5.2. Default Settings
Click the “Restore settings” button to restore plugin settings to defaults.
5.2.1. Click “Yes, restore all settings” button to confirm the procedure.
6. Custom Code
Use the “Custom code” tab to insert a CSS, PHP or JavaScript code. To activate the inserted code, enable the “Activate custom … code” option and save changes.
7. License Key
After a successful plugin purchase, you will receive an email notification with a download link and a license key. Activate Pro license by pasting a license key into the “Custom Search Pro License” field and clicking the “Save Changes” button.
7.1. Check License Key
To check the license key, click the “Check license key” button. If the entered key is correct, the notification “The license key is valid. Your license will expire on XXXX-XX-XX” will be displayed in the upper left corner of the page.
7.2. Manage License Settings
Use the “Manage License Settings” option to change your license settings. Click the “Login to Client Area” button to open your personal Client Area dashboard located on the https://bestwebsoft.com/ website. Browse and download purchased products, change the license domain and copy the license keys.
8. Custom Search Shortcode
Use the Custom Search shortcode to add the "Search" to your pages or posts. Open the “Custom Search” > “Settings” to find the shortcode.
8.1. Copy the necessary shortcode, create a new post or page or open the existing in the “Edit” mode, click on the “Plus” button and then on the “Shortcode” button.
8.2. Insert copied earlier shortcode into the appropriate field.
8.3. Click “Publish...” and then “Preview” buttons in order to see the post. The search bar will look on a page as follows.
